Bio     Michael Edward McNulty, 79, of Ketchum, ID, and previously New York City, NY, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026. Surrounded by his family.
Michael was born in Independence, Missouri, to Merell N.D. McNulty and Bonnie Maxine McNulty. Michael went to Van Horn High School, class of 1964. He went on to receive a BA in English from Central Missouri State College in 1969. Michael joined the Peace Corps in 1971, where his volunteer assignment was in Iran. This is where he met Cynthia (Cindy) Hewitt Annchild, the mother of his two sons. After the Peace Corps, Michael and Cindy partnered to start a small business called The Bath House, a specialty store for natural skin care, in 1977. Michael also had a professional career working at Chemical Bank in New York City and then Edgar Filing at several law firms. He loved Greenwich Village, NY and made his home there for 49 years.
While this was how he made a living, it was not his true passion. Michael’s true passions were dancing and pottery. He could regularly be found at the Barefoot Boogie, often with his boys in tow. He first studied pottery at the Greenwich House Pottery in New York City and continued developing his skills there for twenty-six years. He moved to New Hampshire with his youngest son and family in February 2019, after moving to Sun Valley in April 2022. He continued this passion up to the very end at Boulder Mountain Clayworks studio in Ketchum, ID. People often joked that the pottery studio was Michael’s home away from home, when actually, it’s the other way around. Michael enjoyed watching his five grandchildren participate in their various sports and activities, and he was always an avid spectator.
Michael McNulty is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Cindy Annchild, his oldest son, Lincoln McNulty, and his wife, Leah Taylor, his youngest son Anson McNulty and his wife Kristielyn McNulty, his five grandchildren, Calden McNulty, Owen McNulty, Mason McNulty, River McNulty, Adelaide McNulty, his two siblings Don McNulty and Debra Simkin.
Michael is predeceased by his parents, Merell N.D. McNulty, Bonnie Maxine McNulty, and his oldest sister, Jolene McNulty.
There will be a service for Michael this summer in Ketchum, ID—more specific details to come.
