Bio     Picture apparently switch with Chet Stumpf. This photo is in fact Chet Stumpf. Hervy E. Thompson, age 56, passed away Friday morning, March 26, 2010, at his lake home in the Hidden Valley Park near Warsaw, Mo. He was born in Mountain Home, Arkansas, on September 9, 1952, the son of Lex D. and Berta F. Cunningham Thompson. He grew up in Independence, Mo., and graduated from Van Horn High School in the class of 1970. On November 5, 1971, he was united in marriage to Christina Ann Burks in Kansas City. Following their marriage they made their home in Kansas City where he was employed as a chemical operator for Bayer Crop Science. He retired in August of 2008 after thirty-three years of employment. For the past several years he and his wife have made their home near Holden, Mo. Hervey lived to fish. For many years he has owned a lake residence near Warsaw he called his "fishing shack." For those many years he spent many of his weekends, holidays and vacations there. He was an avid hunter and trapper and went to many "black powder" shooting events and participated in Fur Trader Re-enactments for the past 25 years. He was a member of the Beaumont Baptist Church in Kansas City. Hervey is survived by his wife, Christina, of the home, one son, Kenny Thompson, of Odessa, Mo., and one daughter, Melissa Wahl, of Independence, Mo., five grandchildren, Cheyanne Harrison and Michelle Harrison, Jordan Wahl, Savannah Thompson, and K. C. Thompson. Other survivors include his parents, Lex and Berta Thompson, of Warsaw, one sister, Deborah Snapp, of Kidder, Mo., his mother-in-law, Doris Thompson, of Warsaw, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m., Monday afternoon, March 29, 2010, at the Bledsoe Ferry shelter house #2 on the powerhouse side below Truman Dam. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the shelter house. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Missouri Conservation Commission in care of the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, 660-438-5151.
