Bio     Private funeral services will be held for the family August 26, 2020 at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Oyler of Courageous Life Church, officiating. The service will be live streamed on the McGilley Sheil Facebook page, starting at 2pm, Wednesday. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at 3pm. Carmen was born in Kansas City, MO to Donald and Mary (Caponetto) Borts, on August 21, 1954. She graduated from Van Horn High School. She married James "Jim" L. Johnson on July 3, 1993 at their home in Independence MO. She worked as a manager for AT&T for 35 years. She was involved in many things in her life, including, bowling leagues, volunteer and charity work for children, sponsorships for her granddaughters IGSA softball team and also worked with the Special Olympics. She was a foster parent for many years, and later worked as a caregiver for the elderly at Visiting Angels, and volunteered at Foster Adopt Connect. She was a proud member of the CWA Union. After retirement with AT&T, she poured her heart and soul into her two, self made businesses, B&C Towing, and Pioneer Café. She was involved in the church, and enjoyed cooking/hosting huge holiday dinners for her family and friends. Carmen is preceded in death by her husband James L. Johnson; son James J. Johnson; and mother Mary T. Borts. She is survived by her daughter Amanda Johnson (Independence); sister Phyllis Beck (Blue Springs); father Donald Borts (Independence); granddaughter Kenya Jackson (St.Louis); grandsons Zachary Greeley (Kansas City); Jeremy Greeley and his wife Becky (San Antonio, TX); great grandchildren Owen, Kylie, Josh, and Bryce; niece, Shaunda (and her children McKenzyi, Ky, Zakry, Eli); nephew Vincent (and his children Isabella, Natalia) and her sweet little weenie dog, Lucy.
