Bio | Glenn Michael Cunningham, 68, passed away on March 16, 2025, in Danville, Pennsylvania. Born on August 11, 1956, in Ayer, Massachusetts, Glenn dedicated much of his life to service, both in the military and in his passion for history.
Glenn served with distinction in the U.S. Navy for 18 and a half years, holding the rank of ABH1. His career took him to various locations, including Sigonella, Italy; San Diego, California; Brunswick, Maine; and Lakehurst, New Jersey. Following his tenure in the Navy, he continued his service in the Massachusetts Air National Guard for an additional four years. His military career was marked by bravery and sacrifice—during the Persian Gulf War, Glenn demonstrated extraordinary courage under heavy fire and was wounded in action. For his heroism, he was awarded both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with Valor.
Beyond his military service, Glenn had a deep passion for history, particularly military and prehistory in the United States. He frequently shared his knowledge through lectures at schools and historic sites, inspiring many with his insights. His love for history extended to Revolutionary War reenactments—an activity he participated in for nearly two decades. Through this pursuit, he formed lasting friendships and brought history to life for countless individuals.
In addition to his historical interests, Glenn found joy in cooking and traveling. He was known as a hardworking and humble man who approached life with dedication and integrity.
Glenn is survived by his son Christopher; spouse Priscilla; daughter Jennifer; spouse Adam; brother Glenn; sisters Tracey and Kelly; and grandchildren Seamus, Liam, Landon, Bryson. He was predeceased by his parents, Glenn E. Cunningham Jr. and Virginia Ashford and by his brother Darren Cunningham.
His legacy of service and passion for history will be remembered by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday March 29 at 12 noon in St. Catherine Cemetery, Pine Ridge Road, Westford.
