| Bio | Mark Stephen Souder left for his last journey November 1 at 11:55am at home in his bed in Seattle. In true Markie fashion, he orchestrated this on his own schedule and in his own way, with three close friends/family holding him in love, hearing choral music from a favorite evensong service. His final drink, the chaser to his end-of-life meds, was a Negroni made with Princess gin he distilled himself; he alternated his cocktail with raspberry sorbet. As in life, Mark's passing was an example of his original and authentic self. One of his legacies was to connect the people he loved with each other. Please comfort and share stories with each other, knowing he is looking over your shoulder with that omnipresent wink and wicked smile. Mark’s last message: When I got the diagnosis of colon cancer that had spread to the liver on April 22. 2022 it was a shock, but it had taken weeks to get to that point, and I got to this Zen place. I’ve lived an amazing life. I haven’t worked a desk job since I was 43. I’ve traveled the world. My heart goes out to those people who put that off until they are 65, and then they get my diagnosis. Also, VERY glad I took social security at 62! Eighteen months later I still have that Zen feeling, albeit they are more intense on hospice meds. Today we received that last piece we need for me to get the prescription from Death With Dignity.

Logged 50,000 flight miles last year, mostly going places I wanted to visit (or got a good deal on)... and dragged my laptop along and worked.
